They detect:\u003cbr\u003e- Protanopia (red): The visible range of the red spectrum is shorter than normal, and the part of the spectrum that normally appears blue-green appears gray to those affected by protanopia.\u003cbr\u003e- Deuteranopia (green): The part of the spectrum that appears green to those with normal vision appears gray, and the visible range of the spectrum is divided by this zone into two areas, each of which appears different. The visible range of the spectrum is not contracted, in contrast to protanopia. \u003cbr\u003eRed-purple, the complementary color of green, also appears gray.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn acquired forms of color vision deficiency, protanopia and deuteranopia are indicative of optic neuropathy.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eInstructions for use:\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003eIshihara plates are designed to be used in an environment adequately illuminated by sunlight.\u003cbr\u003eThe introduction of direct sunlight or the use of electric light could produce a discrepancy in the results due to an alteration in the appearance of color shades.\u003cbr\u003eIf electric light is used, it must be adjusted so as to recreate natural light as closely as possible.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe plates must be held 75 cm from the subject being examined; the correct position of each plate is indicated by the number printed on the back of the plate.\u003cbr\u003eThe numbers displayed on plates 1 through 17 are predetermined, and each answer must be given within 3 seconds.
